Holiday Homeschooling

Holiday Homeschooling

Yes today is a holiday!

August 31 is National Heroes Day in the Philippines. But we made it as a homeschooling day in exchange of September 2 which is our 9th year wedding anniversary. This is the beauty of homeschooling. You can manage your own time and schedule.

Today’s activity is a bit jam-packed with fun things to do. We had some activities for MAPEH subject area like exercising, dancing and baking. Also, since it’s National Heroes Day, it is timely to learn Filipino language for my son. I asked him to recite and sing the Philippine National Anthem. He read and recited ‘The Lupang Hinirang’ word per word. This is to help him learn Filipino language more. He was struggling but he’s very much willing to learn and that’s a very good thing. The willingness to learn will make things easier for both of us. In addition, we had an activity which I called “Make your own Philippine Flag.” Yes, both of us made a flag. He made use of coloring materials to make one and I used art papers which I posted on our wall. Singing of Lupang Hinirang will be part of our weekly schedule to help him memorize it by heart.

Overall, a holiday well spent for the whole family. Everyone participated and enjoyed the holiday stay at home activities.

Time for movie night!!!

“If you are willing and obedient,

you will eat the good things of the land;”

Isaiah 1:19 (NIV)
