2nd day!

2nd Day of Homeschooling Journey

Our 2nd day of homeschooling journey…

The physical books from our homeschool provider haven’t arrived yet due to the global pandemic which limits their movements and operations. So while waiting for it to arrive, I prepared some lessons and activities.

I always want to start and end our class with prayer as the saying goes “Pray first act second.”

My lessons and activities were based from the subjects / curriculum set for my child.

Bible or Character Education was part of his curriculum so I made use of his DEVOS for BOYS book (he’s been using it for a year now and he got a new one already) and the FIRST BIBLE Book for this subject area. Discussions about what he read always follow.

This day was especially made for my child to speak up. Since yesterday I did most of the talking in the orientation day.

Today, I made an activity about expectations and wants. Following what the school normally does on first day. This is for familiarization so that when the time has come that my son needs to move to the big school, he already knows what to do. This activity was fun especially I got to know my son’s expectations and wants to his Teacher Mommy and to the homeschooling class.

On the other hand, I also made my expectations and wants which I discussed it to him very briefly. But I have to make it clear that we do not want this expectations and wants to hold us back in achieving our goals because too much expectations sometimes may lead to disappointments. We will do our best and more of our best to achieve our goals and have fun in learning.

Next activity was ‘Tell Me About Yourself.’ I made a set of questions to describe himself, family and his favorite toy. Then I asked him to draw a picture of our family and his favorite toys. This is  a speaking and listening activity.  My objectives are to help him describe and explain things clearly on his own and practice his drawing skills.

While my son was describing himself, I took a full video of all the things that he said. I will always love to look back on this video when he grow up. True and sincere. I will keep it. This will remind me too of my homeschooling journey.

That’s it for the day. Tomorrow’s another day.

May he give you the desire of your heart

and make all your plans succeed.
