Yes to Homeschooling
Due to the impact of the pandemic that greatly affects our country and the world, me and my husband have mutually decided to homeschool our child. We prayed and God gave us wisdom to pursue this new journey.
It is bearable to start anew with this new phase of schooling life since our child is incoming grade 1. Even though our son was already ready and prepared for big school, we have to delay it further until the situation is under control. Everything’s ready before the current situation has taken over our lives. We have done the entrance exam and he passed.
We contemplated, prayed and discussed. Are we going to pursue the online distance learning with our preferred traditional school or homeschool our child? There are pros and cons but with our current status in life, we opted for homeschooling. Why? If our child will go for online distance learning, I still have to assist him in setting up the computer and I have to be beside him most of the times. Moreover, my son will be dealing with gadgets most of the time which we tried not to. Then with the present status of the economy, it is advisable in our family to trim down our expenses and plan for the future. Since I have the time to teach my son, I chose to be his primary facilitator in this homeschooling journey.
I know it’s gonna be a challenging year for all of us but to fully help me understand homeschooling, I did some research. I attended several webinars and orientations with different homeschool providers in the country. I asked some people who are homeschoolers for a long time. Until God led us to this homeschool provider that fits what we are looking for. This helped us finally decide which provider are we enrolling our child with.
