New Year’s Eve Toast

On New Year’s Eve after we watched the fireworks from our window, I gathered my small family and decided to have a short family sharing.

As we start the year 2021, I want to look back on what has happened in the year 2020 and how we survived it. So I asked them this question, ‘What are you grateful for the year 2020?’

My son started sharing first, followed by me then his dad. We had an awesome sharing. I found this activity very engaging and makes your family bond stronger. We can start this group sharing activity while our children are still young. Surely, it will bring so much good benefits in everyone. For us, I will make this family sharing time weekly or monthly. This is different from our everyday chit-chat and talks wherein we really have to sit down and share some thoughts on something.

Yes, 2020 is one of a kind. It changes our lives. It teaches so much things. It unlocks some skills and new learnings. 2020 is a challenging year for each and everyone of us. But what makes me more joyous is when we looked back 2020, all we can see is God’s blessings towards our family. His greatness and grace. Blessings over blessings. Negativity was covered by positivity.

With all the things that’s happening in our world, we commit to focus ourselves to God alone and love our family and friends. Show goodness and share God’s love with everyone.

We ended our New Year’s Eve celebration with a toast and a prayer.

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)
